NEWPORT, RI -- Kid Filmmakers, the year-round traveling filmmaking academy based in Rhode Island, is seeking features, shorts, documentaries and animation for its first annual FLYING POPCORN! Film Festival in Providence, Rhode Island.
The children's film festival will be held at the Castle Cinema Café on Sunday, September 28, featuring international films and videos by youth and adults, panel discussions, celebrities and an awards presentation.

Title: The Kids For Kids Festival
An independent festival of films made by and for children
and a meeting place for young filmmakers, media experts and the interested
public. This film festival is managed by CIFEJ, the International Centre
of Film for Children and Young People. The 2006 edition took place in
Nicosia, Cyprus, where 500 films from 65 countries were submitted for
the official competition.
Kids For Kids Festival 2007 will take place in the fall of 2007 in a Mediterranean
country. You have until May 15th to submit your film.

Neighborhood Day Short Film Festival
What Does Your Neighborhood Mean To You? – Call for
entries in the National Neighborhood Day Short Film Contest
open to K-12 students and adults!
K-12 students as individuals, groups or through classroom projects are especially
invited to participate. There is no entry fee for the Youth Category and the Grand
Prize is $2000. The deadline for entries is June 15, 2006.
National Neighborhood Day is celebrated in neighborhoods across the country
each year on the third Sunday in September as an annual day to recognize and
reinforce the relationships that are the fabric of our communities.
To promote National Neighborhood Day’s mission and vision, we are hosting
a film contest for both professional and amateur filmmakers to illustrate,
through a 5-minute or less film, what neighborhood means to them. Films will
be judged by a panel of renowned filmmakers including Terry Sanders, Academy
Award-winning producer for his documentary on Maya Lin and Gregg Hale producer
and filmmaker of the Blair Witch Project.
